I LOVE my Bosch...but I have never used a Kitchenaid. I grew up using a Bosch too. I have made bread with it, and I make cookies all of time with it. I hand wash my mixing bowl, so it is in great shape. I think a Bosch is more storage friendly too...easier to actually but in a cabinet instead of sitting out on your counter top. The Kitchenaid sure has some great colors if you want to leave it out.
I hate that I have an opinion on this, but...
Bosch if you want to use it to make bread. Kitchen aid if you mostly want a pretty appliance (they seriously are gorgeous). The Bosch is really utilitarian and have a more powerful motor.
We grew up around bosch's, but as an artist I have to say I like the lines of a Kitchen Aid more. So what is more important: Power or Aesthetics?
i hear the Bosch is better for bread.
we have a kitchen aid and it's fine for cookies and other stuff.
but the die hard domestics that make bread all the time all have a Bosch. if you are making the investment , go for the gusto.
although since you aren't making bread for an army you could totally get by with the kitchen aid.
we just got a food processor that makes bread dough too. and so it looks like that is the route we are going instead of getting a bosch. i'm no die hard domestic either. so there we go.
I can't say which is better but I can say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Kitchenaid!
I have a kitchenaide which I got for my wedding so I didn't GET to make that decision. I bake bread fairly regularly with my kitchen aide; however, I do think a bosch is the best. They are quite a bit more money. My kitchen aide is a smaller one and works like a charm.
I think your loyal commentors are on the right track. I have a kitchenaid that I LOVE, but I've read and heard that if you want to make bread with them you risk blowing the motor, so I've been afraid to do it. Otherwise the kitchenaid if fabulous and comes with so many random and excellent attachments that its a lot of fun. Good luck!
i love my kitchenaid! I'm not a breadmaker so I can't vouch for its abilities there but i don't bake without it. i also love the colors it comes in...
I love my Kitchenaid and I agree with Damian. The look of the Kitchenaid is really nice. Plus they have a lot of fun colors to choose from. I use mine all the time for bread, cookies, etc. I don't think my bread turns out as well as my neighbor's. She has a bosch. I think the Bosch is considered the king of bread mixers. They are quite a bit more expensive than the Kitchenaids, I think.
wow! way out of my expertise. Good luck! Maybe you can bring homeade bread to next book club.
Sounds like you got pretty much the same answers I did.
I decided that I was going to go with a bosch (they are around $400, while the kitchenAid is around $280) but then I saw a red one...
I still haven't bought one yet, I am going to search around for some conference weekend specials. Maybe if I buy a wheat grinder with it I can get a better deal....
Have to start rotating that food storage.
I love my Kitchen Aid, have made bread with it several times but I do have the larger size with the larger motor. I have always heard great things about Bosch, so I am not much help.
Hi jayna, I haven't read your blog in a while and you probably already made your decision...I made the same decision a few years ago and did a lot of research. I went with the Kitchenaid. True, they say the motor will blow out, but ONLY in the small kitchenaid (the one that the mixer part tilts up). the larger kitchenaid (it lifts with a metal handle on the side) has a much bigger motor, comparable to any Bosch. I like it left out on my counter all the time for easier access and I don't have to lift it in and out of the cupboard. Love ya!
Everyone told me I couldn't make bread with my Kitchenaid and I needed to shell out the $569 for a stinkin Bosch. Well guess what...I make dang good bread with my Kitchenaid every week. Only problem is it does not seem like it is going to last me forever making bread. If you're going to make a ton of bread, go Bosch, otherwise get a shiny pink Kitchenaid...
Just buy bread and cookies at the store. :P
HA HA I know I'm so behind and you might have already got it but, I have had both and really love my bosch! Good luck!!
